Holograph letter from Rudyard Kipling addressed to "Dear Lady", dated January 6, 1891 on Grand Hotel, Brighton [England] letterhead. Includes four pen & ink illustrations by Kipling including an old man on the arm of a young lady; a dog in a plush coat; a minstrel with a banjo; and two dogs behind a curtain with their tails sticking out. The "Lady" unidentified but appears to be written to an American recipient. Text of letter begins: "Dear Lady- Yah!--Those be my first and intemperate thoughts. I've been dancing in the sun like a newly hatched butterfly". Signed at end: "Best love to you all three, Ruddy".
